Note
Edward Standen had business in the Shetland Woollen industry and was apparantly the first person to introduce Shetland woollen products in England using 112 Jermyn Street, London as his warehouse. After his death in 1845 it would appear that the business was carried on by Catherine Sirman Standen, his sister Sarah and her husband David Morphew. Edward Standen wrote a paper on the Shetland Islands which was read at the opening of theDevonport Mechanics Institution when an exhibition was made of choice specimens of Shetland Knitting, August 1844.
